So just a week ago now I posted a blog about what was going on with my injury and everything I have been through the past 5 months. But while I have been unable to practice or compete I have kept myself busy with a number of jobs.
One of those jobs has been to help Rob Moon and his team to run the Mercedes Trophy. It is one of the biggest amateur events in this country and runs throughout the year. Firstly I was supposed to be attending the events for “beat the pro challenge” but due to my injury I haven’t be able to. Never the less I have enjoyed every minute of working with Rob and his fantastic team. I’ve met some amazing people and made some friendships that will last a life time.
I started back in June at Pleasington Golf Club, which is where Mercedes Benz holds one of their many regional qualifiers across the country. Working a few of these events you get to meet some real characters and the great thing is that the people who qualify you get to see again at the Semi Finals, which was held at New Zealand Golf Club this year.
Just a few weeks ago now I headed up to the home of Golf, St. Andrews, where Mercedes Benz would be hosting their National Finals. I was there all week helping to run the event which involved registering each player and their host, counting up the score cards, and looking after the guests. The competition was held over the Jubilee, Castle course and Kingsbarns.
Not only is the Mercedes Benz National Final about the golf they also host dinners at fantastic restaurants each night. Including a more relaxed night in the famous Jigger Inn attached to the Old Course Hotel, where we stayed! The Old Course Hotel has to be one of the best I have ever stayed in, from the views to breakfast on the 4th floor, I loved it!!
So I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Rob Moon for making me a part of his team this year to run the Mercedes Trophy, it was all in all a fantastic experience.
